| Back in 2001, my step-father surprised my mom with a brand
new 2002 Firehawk. The two had been eyeballing Firehawks for
some time (they loved cars in general!), and my mom especially
fell in love with them. So my step-father arranged a purchase
and surprised her with it! What a cool story.
Seven years later, in 2008, my step-father passed away. By then, the two of them owned four cars, the Firehawk, a 1972 Corvette, a Fiero and a PT Cruiser. Obviously, nothing special about the latter two cars but they liked them. After his passing, my mom slowly sold off the other three cars but would never let go of her prized Firehawk. However, she too passed away earlier this year I am sorry to say. As Trustee, I am now tasked with finding a new home for her "baby." Appraised by Classic Auto Appraiser in California (used exclusively by Chip Foose and also used by Boyd Coddington). All equipment and check points rated EXCELLENT by appraiser except Tires (rated VERY GOOD). Notes from the appraiser: "At the time of the recent inspection, this very limited production Firehawk with only 15,275 original miles represented an excellent overall example of this SLP performance optioned Firebird. As noted on the Appraisal's option page, and as depicted on the many enclosed digital photographs, this very rare Firehawk has been preserved virtually as it was when it left the factory 22 years ago. Purchased as a birthday present in 2002, it is still in the family. The exterior still has the factory shine, and the interior looks like it just left the factory. This Firebird Firehawk also has a desirable option package that includes an LS1, 5.7, 345 H.P V-8 high performance engine, 6-speed manual transmission, power 4-wheel disc brakes, factory air conditioning, and a list of standard features and options. A 2002 Pontiac Firebird Firehawk preserved such as this one, in these improving economic times, is likely to appreciate at the 5%-10% rate per annum." |
